"But we have not come here to glorify war or romanticize an already over-romanticized tragic conflict. We have come here to remember people on both sides who were drawn into momentous events in history, events more often than not far beyond their individual choice or control, or even full comprehension. They were swept into a whirlpool, but did their duty as they saw fit in the time in which they lived. And died."

 --Erik Bye, The Mountains Remember

After 2 years of quiet, behind the scenes work, a series of 15th Wisconsin-related activities took place in conjunction with the September 17-19, 1999, reenactment of the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia. Despite the nearby passage of Hurricane Floyd, the weather was perfect and there was excellent participation by 15th descendants, reenactors, and by distinguished representatives of Norway. The links below will take you to reports, with photos and participant quotes, on these activities.
