This photo is believed to have been taken at the September, 1896, reunion of the 15th Wisconsin, which took place in the City of St. Paul, in the State of Minnesota. This belief is based in part on the reunion ribbon each man is wearing, which appear to be the same as issued at the 1896 reunion. To see a close-up photo of a surviving example of one of these ribbons, click HERE. Several of the men are wearing a medal with a 5 pointed star. It indicates they are members of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), the Union Civil War veterans organization.
